Fever PDL players going to Major League Soccer Two Fever PDL players were recently recruited to Major League Soccer in the MLS SuperDraft held January 12, 2007. Josh Tudela played with the Fever in 2004 and 2005. He was a very strong attacking midfielder who played academy style travel soccer in his youth. He went on to play college soccer at Indiana University where he caught the eyes of the Fever PDL coaches. Tudela was selected in round two, 20th overall and will be playing alongside David Beckham with the LA Galaxy. Coach Poursanidis has this to say about Tudela: "I am very excited and proud of Josh's accomplishments. Indiana University and its staff should be very proud as well. Speaking for the Fever, we have been fortunate to be part of Josh's development during the off seasons. As a Fever PDL player, we have seen Josh mature as a player, bringing his game to a different level as well as becoming a difference maker. His ability to outwork opposing players with incredible determination and passion for the game has brought him a very long way. He will have a great future at the professional level."
Also selected was standout midfielder John Michael Hayden. Hayden played for the Fever PDL just last season in 2006. Well liked by his teammates and feared by opposing forwards, Hayden is very quick and extremely physical. As a youth, he also played academy style travel soccer for Javanon. Like Tudela, Hayden went to Indiana University. The Fever PDL coaches loved how he controlled and dominated the midfield during a game. Hayden was taken in the first round, 13th overall by the Houston Dynamo. Coach Poursanidis has this to say about Hayden: "The Fever is very proud of John's accomplishments. As he enters his professional career, the Fever is honored to have been part of his development. One of the cleanest, most technical players we have worked with, he proved to be one of the most dedicated and passionate individuals. John always came to training with hunger and desire to improve his abilities. He has a great attitude not only towards the game, but to his teammates as well. As a true soccer junkie, John has great potential as he enters his next and greatest challenge, the MLS. We wish him the best." The staff of the Fort Wayne Fever PDL and the Fever Academy want to congratulate both of these players as well as wish them well in their new professional careers. 33 PDL Players Selected in the MLS SuperDraft INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Thirty-three former players from the USL Premier Development League were selected in the 2007 Major League Soccer SuperDraft Friday with five players chosen in the First Round, including third overall pick Michael Harrington, a three-year defender with the Raleigh Elite, and seventh overall pick John Cunliffe, the 2006 PDL Scoring Champion from the Boulder Rapids Reserve.
